Abeliophyllum are best planted in a well-drained soil of loam, sand or chalk within an acidic, alkaline or neutral PH balance. They are best positioned in an area of full sun but they will cope with partial shade too. Abeliophyllum are well suited to wall side borders or planted in pots or containers.

Ensure you have chosen a suitable sit to enable ultimate development and growth for your shrub where they can reach their ultimate size without compromising surrounding plants.
Just before the end of spring, cut right back or prune to tidy up uneven or damaged ends. Protect against cold weather and frosts as this may damage the flowers and any unripe wood. Ensure the plants are kept well-watered, taking care not to waterlog the base and ultimately damage the roots.
It is possible to propagate Abeliophyllum by softwood cuttings or by layering.
