Long been favoured by florists as stems are long, strong and ideal for vases and bouquets – lasting well and adding their perfume to a room. There will be plenty of flowers for both the garden and the vase once this symbol of luck, prosperity and love has established itself.
The ‘Fabulously Fragrant Paeonia Collection’ comprises; lactiflora ‘Duchesse de Nemours’ AGM - soft, creamy-white double flowers June and July, height and spread 80cm; lactiflora ‘Mary Brand’ – large, sweet, bubble-gum pink double blooms, height 90cm, spread 50cm; and lactiflora ‘Kansas’ AGM– large, double flowers with petals in shades of rich, deep magenta-red, height and spread 90cm. Both these varieties flowering from May to June.
The ‘Fabulously Fragrant Paeonia Collection’ prefers to be planted in moist, well-drained soil of any kind. Position in either full sun or partial shade, with any aspect other than north-facing. Ideal for planting in a border or container, and small enough for a patio or balcony too. A hardy, herbaceous perennial that needs no additional winter protection in most of the UK.
