Zephyranthes

History and Origin:

Zephyranthes is a genus of over 70 species within the Amaryllis family and are native to the Americas. The name Zephyranthes comes from the Greek word 'Zephyrus' (the Greek god of the west wind) and 'anthos' meaning flower. They are more commonly known as fairy lilies, rainflowers, zephyr lilies, magic lilies, Aramasoco lilies and rain lilies. The name rainflower or rain lily comes from the fact that they often come into bloom following a period of lots of rain.

About:

Zephyranthes are deciduous or evergreen bulbous perennials with crocus-like flowers that can bloom in spring, summer or autumn. They are well suited to rock gardens as well as pots and containers.
