Wisteria

History and Origin:

Wisteria is a genus within the Fabaceae (Legume) family, native to North America and Asia. Thomas Nuttall, a botanist, supposedly named the genus after Dr. Caspar Wistar (1761-1818) although there is some conflict with some people saying it was named after close friend Charles Wister.

About:

Wisteria are woody climbing vines with long elegant stems that arch and hang with glorious pale-green foliage and glorious rounded pea-shaped blooms that are held in tight racemes. Once the blooms fade, velvet-like seed pods take shape to provide stunning autumnal interest.
