Ugni

History and Origin:

Ugni is a genus of shrubs within the Myraceae family and are native to South America, in particular Chile, Argentina and Mexico.

About:

Ugni are evergreen shrubs with dense foliage. Cup-shaped flowers bloom in spring/summer which are then followed by edible, round berries in autumn. The berries are said to taste much like an aromatic strawberry and are often used to make jams, desserts and drinks. Ugni are well-suited to most gardens and are happy in borders, beds and containers too.
