Symphytum is documented as early as 400BC where the root was used in both Greek and Roman medicine, to stop severe bleeding. It has been used to cure such ailments throughout history and has been documented widely by renowned herbalists and botanists.
Symphytum are herbaceous perennial plants with abundant swathes of foliage and dainty clusters of nodding flowers that flourish throughout spring.
