Sprekelia

History and Origin:

Sprekelia are a genus of plants within the Amaryllidaceae family. They are commonly known as Aztec lilies or Jacobean lilies. The genus name was given by Johann Heinrich von Spreckelsen in the late 17th, early 18th century.

About:

Sprekelia are bulbous perennial plants with strong slender stems, strap-shaped foliage and stunning solitary blooms with a downward facing sepal and three upper petals that arch out like the wing-span of a majestic bird. Sophora are best suited as container plants so that they can be easily transported when the colder weather sets in. can expect to see Sophora grow to an approximate height and spread of 10-50cm (4-20).
