Spigelia

History and Origin:

Spigelia is a genus of flowering plants in the Loganiaceae family, native to the Americas. They are more commonly known as ‘Pinkroot’. The genus was named by Swedish botanist, Carl Linnaeus in 1753 in honour of Adriaan van den Spiegel, a Flemish anatomist of the time.

About:

Spigelia are annuals, perennials or sub-shrubs with upright stems and sprays of delicate buds that burst to reveal star-shaped flowers with bright yellow throats throughout the summer.
