Sanguisorba is a genus of flowering plants within the Rosaceae family, native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. They are most commonly known as the ‘burnet’ plant. The name Sanguisorba means ‘blood stauncher’ as they are known to have styptic properties, commonly used medicinally to treat bleeding.
Sanguisorba are rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plants with elegant, slender silhouettes that offer extensive aesthetic diversity where small fluffy flowers cluster together to form a feather duster-like appearance upon delicate pinnate leaves.
