Rodgersia is a genus of just 5 distinct species of flowering plants within the family Saxifragaceae family and are native to east Asia in shady moist woodlands and near streams. Rodgersia was originally discovered by A.Gray, an American taxonomist in 1885 who named it after John Rodgers, an American Admiral who lead the expedition in which Rodgersia podophylla was discovered.
Rodgersia are rhizomatous herbaceous perennials that love moisture. They often have tinted leaves and small star-shaped flowers that bloom in summer. They are well-suited to planting in beds and borders.
