Polygala

History and Origin:

Polygala are a genus of flowering plants within the Polygalaceae family. They are commonly known as ‘Milkworts or snakeroots’. The genus name is derived from the ancient Greek word meaning "much milk", as the plant was thought to increase milk yields in cattle.

About:

Polygala are annuals and evergreen perennials or shrubs that fashion compact, frothy and bushy foliage made up of simple yet attractive green leaves that are held in delicate clusters. Charming bundles of pea-shaped blooms perch upon their foliage in delightful bold shades that flower profusely from late spring through to late autumn.
