Phlomis is a genus within the Lamiaceae family, native to temperate regions of Asia. They are most commonly referred to as ‘Jerusalem sage and lampwick’. The genus name is derived from the Greek word for ‘flame’ as the leaves were once used to form lamp wicks.
Phlomis are herbaceous perennial or evergreen shrubs with small, dark green leaves and tubular flower heads that stack neatly against stately, thin stems.
