Philotheca is a genus of around 50 species of shrub within the family Rutaceae and are native and unique to Australia. The name Philotheca originates from the Greek word 'psilos' meaning 'bare' or 'smooth' and 'theke' meaning 'case' or 'sheath' referring to the smooth tube of the stamens. Many plants in this genus were formerly in the genus Eriostemon.
Philotheca are shrubs with simple leaves and star-shaped flowers that are loved by bees and butterflies and bloom in spring and summer. They are well-suited to planting in borders and containers.
