Petunia

History and Origin:

Petunia are a genus within the Solanaceae family, native to South America. They are closely related to tobacco, cape gooseberries, tomatoes, deadly nightshades, potatoes and chili peppers. The genus name is derived from the French word ‘petun’, meaning ‘tobacco’. In ancient folklore, it was believed that petunias had the power to chase away monsters and spirits of the underworld with their scent. It is also thought that petunias cannot thrive in an environment that is surrounded by strong negative energy.

About:

Petunia are annual or perennial plants with modest leaves and large distinctive blooms that appear from late spring to autumn, flourishing with abundance over lush bushy foliage. It is recommended that they are planted in pots and containers, although will look fantastic amongst companion shrubs in flower beds and borders within courtyard and informal garden settings.
