Molinia is a genus of just 2 species within the grass family and are native to damp moorlands of northern Africa, Europe and Asia. It is more commonly known as moor grass due to their natural habitat. Molinia is named after Juan Ignacio Molina who was a 19th century naturalist and botanist from Chile.
Molinia are deciduous perennial grasses with flat leaves and upright stems than produce flowering panicles during the summer. They are well suited to planting in border and beds.
