Menyanthes is a genus of flowering plants within the Menyanthaceae family. They are commonly known as bog bean, buckbean or marsh trefoil, native to North America.
Menyanthes are aquatic, rhizomatous perennial plants that love to grow in shallow water. Dark, long slender stems are embellished with elliptical foliage and gorgeous clusters of star-shaped blooms, each with attractive fringed petals. Menyanthes flourish during the summer, perfect when planted in a low maintenance or wildlife garden. You should expect to see Menyanthes grow to an approximate height of 10-50cm (4-20”) and a spread of 1m-1.5m (40-60”).
