Melittis

History and Origin:

Melittis is a genus of flowering plants within the Lamiaceae (Mint) family, native to central and southern Europe. They are commonly known as ‘bastard balm’. The genus name is derived from the Greek word ‘melitta’ meaning ‘bee’.

About:

Melittis are perennial plants with bushy sage-green and exquisite honey-scented foliage. Clusters of delicately coloured orchid-like blooms are fixed upon tall stems throughout late spring and early summer.
