Lupin

History and Origin:

Lupinus (Lupins) is a genus of approximately over 200 species within the Fabaceae family, native to North and South America. Lupins were used for culinary purposes throughout the Mediterranean and were eaten by the Egyptians. They were brought to Europe during the late 18th century and were a fully-fledged, domesticated bloom by the 20th century.

About:

Lupins are shrubs, perennials and annuals that have become a popular garden staple. Majestic spires of colourful blooms emerge from the back of a border to create desired height. An extensive colour range means that there is a Lupin for any colour scheme and style. It is recommended that Lupins are best planted in drifts where they will attract an abundance of wildlife and beneficial insects.
