Liriope

History and Origin:

Liriope is a genus of plants within the Asparagaceae family, native to Eastern and southeastern Asia. They are commonly known as ‘Lilyturf’. The name was given in honour of Lirope, the daughter of the ancient Boeotian or Phocian river God.

About:

Liriope are evergreen herbaceous perennial plants that form compact clumps of linear, grass-like foliage and dense spikes of bluish-purple flowers, followed by black berries. Liriope are best suited to flower beds and borders or used as underplanting for shrubs, within a courtyard, cottage and informal garden. You should expect to see your plants grow to an approximate height and spread of 10-50cm (4-20”).
