History and Origin:

Libertia is a genus of flowering plants within the Iridaceae family, native to South America. It was firs described in 1824 and was supposedly named after Belgian botanist of the time Marie-Anne Libert.


Libertia are perennial plants that lance-shaped foliage and saucer-shaped flowers that are followed by glossy orange seed capsules.
