Leucojum

History and Origin:

Leucojum is a small genus of just two known species native to Europe and Asia and belongs to the Amaryllis family. The name Leucojum comes from the Greek meaning 'white violet' but they are more commonly known as Snowflakes.

About:

Leucojum are bulbous perennials with bell-shaped white flowers and strap-shaped foliage. They look much like a snowdrop in appearance but are twice as tall and flower later than snowdrops do. Leucojum are well-suited to planting in borders, beds and containers. They are a good early source of nectar for bees.
