Holboellia is a genus of 20 species within the Lardizabalaceae family and are native to Southeast Asia, China and the Himalayas. They are more commonly known as Sausage Vine due to the sausage-shaped fruits that they produce in the autumn.
Holboellia are evergreen climbing shrubs with twining stems and small flowers that bloom in spring which is then followed by fruits in the autumn. The plant has both male and female flowers on the same plant. Holboellia are well-suited to being planted in a wall-side border to climb up a wall.
