Hamamelis are a genus of plants within the Hamamelidaceae family, native to North America, Japan and China. In North America, they are commonly referred to as ‘winterblooms’ and in Britain are known as ‘Witch hazel’. Witch hazel water is used externally on sores, bruises, and for skin care.
Hamamelis are deciduous shrubs with rounded foliage in shades of yellow, red and orange during the autumn and winter months.
