Gooseberry

History and Origin:

Gooseberry is a species within the genus Ribes and are used to product their edible fruits both domestically and commercially. They are native to Europe, western Asia and northern Africa and grow naturally in rocky woods and alpine thickets.

Known for their edible fruits which are ripe and ready for picking in summer, Gooseberries are often eaten fresh or are used in pies, fools and crumbles.
