History and Origin:

Gleditsia is a genus of trees within the Fabaceae family, native to North America and Asia. They are commonly referred to as Honeylocust. The name was given in honour of Johann Gottlieb Gleditsch, the director of the Berlin Botanical Garden in 1786.

About:

Gleditsia are deciduous trees with spiny branches and unobtrusive flowers that are often followed by large flattened seed pods. They are incredibly popular with birds and local wildlife with foliage that colour changes according to the season.
