Curcuma is a genus of around 100 species within the family Zingiberaceae and contains species such as turmeric. The name Curcuma comes from a Sanskrit word for turmeric. They are native to Asia, Australia, India and New Guinea.
Curcuma are tuberous perennials with cone-shaped, fragrant flowers that bloom during summer above tall, banana-like foliage. Curcuma are well suited to tropical style gardens in flower beds, borders, pots and containers.
