Tell Me More...
Grasses are instrumental for a lovely garden at all times of the year; their narrow foliage acts as a foil to broad-leaved plants, and their often tall, airy flowers provide softness and movement in borders and containers. In the Bold and Beautiful Grasses collection there are three varieties: Stipa gigantea - golden arching stems, cereal-like flowerheads, slender grey-green leaves, a majestic semi-evergreen grass; Carex 'Evergold' - compact, evergreen, dark green foliage with a central cream stripe, grows in hummocks, slender stems with brown flowerheads; Miscanthus sinensis 'Herman Mussel' - creates a large billowing clump with arching foliage and stems holding a mass of light pink tinged plumes. Transform your garden with these three grasses, especially chosen to provide a range of form and colour. Many gardeners err towards trees and shrubs for achieving evergreen interest - which works wonderfully well in itself. However, bringing grasses into the equation can add extra 'brush strokes', resulting in a fuller, more varied winter garden. We love the sight of frost-kissed seedheads and grasses on a crisp, sunny morning. All these plants are hardy perennials will tolerate a sunny, open site, although the carex is happiest in partial shade.
