Bouteloua

History and Origin:

Bouteloua is a genus of plants within the Poaceae family. They are commonly referred to as ‘grama grass’. The genus was named after 19th century Spanish botanists, Claudio and Esteban Boutelou.

About:

Bouteloua are clump-forming deciduous or perennial grasses that display long, slender leaves and long clusters of dense flower spikes in dark purple-brown or cream during summer. They can tolerate harsh, dry conditions and are best suited to flower beds and borders within a wildflower or prairie meadow or cottage garden style. You should expect to see your Bouteloua grow to an approximate height and spread of between 30-60cm (1-2’).
