Blechnum

History and Origin:

Blechnum is a genus of ferns within the Blechnaceae family, native to regions of the southern hemisphere. The genus was first described by Swedish botanist, Carl Linnaeus in 1753.

About:

Blechnum are mostly evergreen ferns with attractive leathery rib-like fronds that form into erect spires coated in lush shades of green. They are best suited to flower beds and borders or used as underplanted for larger shrubs or trees. You should expect Blechnum to grow to an approximate height and spread of between 10-50cm (4-20”).
