Illuminated Athyrium niponicum Collection brings deeply cut fronds of ferny leaves with variegation and magical markings in captivating colours. All offer glorious groundcover to your garden from March to October which will enliven a container or shady spot. Clump-forming ferns which naturalise readily, adding enduring depth and drama which is perfect for a woodland setting.Collection comprises: var. pictum 'Metallicum' - golden green fronds, flushed with silver and purple; var. pictum 'Silver Falls' - RHS Award of Garden Merit holder with deeply divided, grey-green fronds and purple-red midribs; and var. pictum 'Red Beauty' - pretty rosettes of arching, lacy fronds, often silvery tones alongside contrasting burgundy-red flushes to the stems and midribs.Plants in the Illuminated Athyrium niponicum Collection prefer moist, rich, well-drained soil in full or partial shade. Hardy, herbaceous perennials which mature to achieve a height and spread of 45-60cm. Ideally suited to a sheltered spot away from harsh winds.
