Amorpha is a genus of plants in the pea family Fabaceae and are native to North America, southern Canada and northern Mexico. The name Amorpha comes from the Greek word meaning 'deformed' or 'without form' due to the flowers only having one petal unlike normal pea-shaped flowers. They are more commonly known as False Indigo.
Amorpha are deciduous shrubs with pinnate leaves and single-petalled, either deep purple or blue flowers that bloom in summer. Amorpha are a great low-maintenance plant that are good for planting in borders and beds.
