Alstroemeria

History and Origin:

Alstroemeria are a genus of plants within the Alstroemeriaceae family, native to South America. The genus name of Alstroemeria was named after the Baron Clas Alströmer (1736-1794) a Swedish naturalist who introduced the plant to Europe.

About:

Alstroemeria are herbaceous perennial plants with striking lance-shaped foliage, vertical stately stems and sumptuous, tropical-like blooms. Alstroemeria are produced in a wide range of colours, with each petal displaying a unique fleck or marking. They look at their best when positioned in flower beds and borders.
