History and Origin:

Acidanthera are a genus that is part of the Iridaceae family that is native to eastern Africa. In 1973 Wessel Marais included the genus Acidanthera as part of the Gladiolus.


Acidanthera are cormous perennials that are often known as a Gladiolus. Huge, white hooded and fragrant flowers with a stunning maroon centre spread to reveal divine splendour atop fans of sword shaped foliage during the summer. Acidanthera make great cut flowers and will make the perfect addition to borders and pots.
